In this post I will be highlighting what each eating style has in common, because at the end of the day the core message is the same: Eat. Real. Food. I want to make it simple and easy for you to implement these core principles so you can successfully get to your health goals.
If you don’t eat real food, you are a real fool. It can seem hard at first, but it takes less time than you think, in as little as 30 minutes you can have a meal ready to eat, don’t believe me? Check out my “30 minute meal” post in the recipe section of the site
We all have different reactions to the foods we eat. Which is okay, and it means that what works for Some people may not work on you. For example, I have noticed that milk does not have a good effect on me, but heavy cream and cheese have no adverse effects on me, however I know some people who have to avoid all dairy like the plague. Alternatively, gluten wrecks me, I feel sluggish, bloated, worn and all around crappy if I eat it, it may not be that bad for everyone. So, no matter what eating style you subscribe to above all else, eat what you body agrees with. If you end up on the bathroom after eating eggs, maybe you shouldn’t eat them, even if someone swears by them. Do what works for you. Listen to your body.
There are a few things to limit or avoid however, and those are:
- Starches (if you are trying to lean out)
I suggest those three groups of foods because they are the 20% of foods that cause 80% of our health problems. Easy Peasy, right? Yes, well…. Once you get passed the feeling crappy phase. The phase has many names, I go over it more fully in the Keto section and the Healthy Lifestyles landing page, but here is the one sentence breakdown. The flu-like symptoms are caused by dependence/addiction on carbs as fuel; as you break the addiction your body will start using fat as fuel, you will inturn feel better.
The food to lean on are meat, veggies, nuts, some fruit and dairy if you can handle them. For a more indepth look and foods you can eat check out My Food Philosophy.
